ABOUT
It was on Instagram that it all started. The main idea was merely thought of as a fun thing that involved building a gallery together with people who share the same enthusiasm for the horror genre. The group that then went by the name Sinister Circus (2018) didn't grow much of an audience. In addition, the group had to be renamed after a short time after the name was discovered to belong to an already existing community.

     The ambitions grew of not just sharing images, but also getting to know the people behind the creations, which became the first driving step behind the development of Dark Zone Magazine. In addition to the curiosity about the people behind the art and the creations, the ambition was also to create a platform where anyone, regardless of background or experience, who shares an interest in the dark, eerie and perhaps a little odd, pretentiously and without performance, can share their own creations and universe. A platform for meetings where dissenters and like-minded people can share and take part in each other's creations and ideas; a meeting place for fun and inspiration simply.

​     Dark Zone Magazine is an ever-living project. We are constantly working on improving our knowledge of questioning, writing and editing in order to deliver quality reading and attractions in the best possible way, where also contributors in a close relationship can participate and influence the development with their ideas in a desirable direction.

WHAT GENRE DO YOU ACCEPT?
Dark Zone Magazine publishes anything dark and macabre. Example of genres are dark art, horror, urbex, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.
ARE THERE SUBMISSION FEES?
No, submitting to Dark Zone Magazine is free.
DO YOU ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS?
Yes, we are accepting submissions on a continues basis. Check out or submission guideline page for more information on submission procedure.
DO YOU PAY FOR SUBMISSIONS?
No, everything getting into the print or pdf magazine is not paid. We feature only artists contributions. Approximately 90% of the money for a sold print or pdf goes to the publisher. The work we spend writing and editing this magazine we do without pay on our spare time and we simply do it because of our passion.
WHAT KIND OF ARTICLES DO YOU PUBLISH?
We publish a wide range of topics of our own and also from submissions. Reviews and previews. We publish poetry and fiction. Mostly we combine some kind of personal narrative with or without a philosophical or critical argument within the genre of this magazine. If you have a story idea, feel free to reach out.

Submission guidelines
Use this checklist to ensure that you have included all the necessary information and content before you send us your submission.
1. High-resolution JPEG images (5-10 images).*
2. Title of the images/ artworks/ articles.*
3. Story/ artistic approach 200-600 words.*
4. Contributor credits (use your real full name, artist name or Instagram name - including photographer/ model release, social media and website links).*
5. (Optional) photographer biography (200-600 words).
6. (optional) model biography (200-600 words).
7. Watermarked and sensored images will be declined.*
8. Read and sign the image & article release form (contact form down below) that is granting Dark Zone Magazine to use and publish your submitted work.*

By filling out this digital release form, I (Name Listed Below) hereby grant Dark Zone Magazine permission to use the photography or other content submitted in their publication, including their website, and internet postings. I verify that I have the right to publish the people in the pictures and that I own the rights to have these pictures (or other content) distributed, published, or otherwise promoted by Dark Zone Magazine as they see fit for their publication. I certify that this work of art is not plagiarized from another source.

I understand that the picture(s) (or other content) I submit to Dark Zone Magazine may be used in their publication in print or digitally as well as on their website and other social media and internet postings.

I understand that by completing this form only allows Dark Zone Magazine to use my photos (or other content) in their publication, and at no time will Dark Zone Magazine assume rights to the photos (or other content) themselves, other than me allowing them the right to publish the photos (or other content submitted and should they then post pages from the publication on their website or internet postings.
I understand that at no time shall I be paid, re-imbursed, compensated, given a free magazine, or given royalties, now or at any point in the future by Dark Zone Magazine.

I affirm that all given statements to the magazine are true. As the provider, I also understand that submissions of content, or completion of release, is not a guarantee of publication. If Work is published, it is the duty of the provider (and not Dark Zone Magazine) to notify all involved parties of their involvement in the final product.
